Volunteering, Interning, and Mentoring
By volunteering, interning, or mentoring with the IRC in Sacrametno, you can use your skills to support people who have fled violence and persecution rebuild their lives. Check back in July for a listing of opporunities! Questions? Reach out to [email protected].
Donating
Monetary Donations:
You can support refugees in our community by donating to the IRC in Northern California. Your donation to the IRC in Northern California will help refugees who have been granted sanctuary in the United States become self-sufficient, productive members of their new communities. We invite you to donate here.
Soft Landing Fund:
Refugees only receive a one-time allocation of $1,175 per person to cover initial resettlement expenses and this amount remains the same regardless of where in the country they are resettled. The majority of refugees arriving in Northern California are joining family members who are often not yet financially stable themselves. As a result, the refugees served by the International Rescue Committee in Northern California typically require additional financial support as they get on their feet in the United States.
You can help! The Soft Landing Fund provides housing and utility assistance for hard-to-reach, low-income, newcomer families and individuals. Support with your donation to the Soft Landing Fund here.
In-Kind Donations:
In-kind donations help provide a warm and welcoming home to refugees, immigrants, and survivors of crime & trafficking. Additional supplies, such as school and work bags, help provide families with the tools they need to integrate and achieve self-sufficiency. The IRC in Sacramento accepts the items listed below in new or good condition. All donations must be screened, approved, and coordinated with the Volunteer & Donations Team by emailing [email protected].
