There are few things more powerful than gathering around the table to share a meal, laughter, and stories that remind us of what truly matters: community, gratitude, and belonging.
This year’s Thanksgiving Feast, held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta (UUCA), was a joyful celebration of togetherness. From the aroma of home-cooked dishes filling the room to the sound of laughter echoing through the halls, every moment reflected the spirit of unity that defines the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Atlanta.
Our goal each and every year is simple yet meaningful: to ensure that our clients felt the warmth of Thanksgiving, many for the very first time. Thanks to our community’s incredible generosity, it was a success. The evening was filled with shared stories, joy, and a genuine sense of belonging that touched every heart in the room.
We extend our deepest gratitude to UUCA for generously hosting us once again at their beautiful space at 2650 N Druid Hills Rd NE. Your hospitality provided a welcoming home for families, friends, volunteers, and newcomers alike to gather and share in the season’s warmth.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our incredible volunteers and supporters who brought meals, served guests, decorated tables, and helped create such a festive atmosphere. Your care and kindness turned this evening into something extraordinary.
A special moment of the night came when Carla, one of our clients from Colombia, stood up to share her story. She spoke with courage and pride about her journey of rebuilding her life and launching her new hat business, Festivia. Her words reminded us all that resilience, hope, and community can transform challenges into new beginnings.
Children played freely in the kids’ room and on the playground, their laughter filling the venue and adding even more joy to the celebration. It was a true family event, alive with connection, warmth, and gratitude.
As we reflect on this year’s celebration, we are reminded that belonging is built one shared moment at a time. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. Your generosity and joy continue to inspire us as we work to create a community where everyone feels welcome and at home.
