The IRC in Wichita is grateful to have received an outpouring of local support in response to the Executive Orders on refugees. Hygeine items, such as toothbrushes, soap and other essential personal items are often expensive to procure but are vital to helping a new family feel comfortable on arrival.

Several university groups, churches and other organizations were eager to gather goods, and many are still hosting drives that will occur throughout the month of March. A group of Wichita State Students hosted a peaceful protest and in doing so asked, their participants to donate hygiene items that were donated to the IRC.  The students wanted to make sure that the outcome of the protest was impactful and productive and in doing so, were able to provide the IRC in Wichita with over 400 hygiene items to be given to newly arrived refugees in Wichita.

The Winter 2017 Hygiene Drive has been evidence of the compassion and generosity within the Wichita community. For more information about donating to the IRC please email [email protected].
