What an exciting event!  In July, our friends with Goldman Sachs Community TeamWorks hosted the very first Women’s Economic Empowerment Luncheon at the IRC in Dallas. Twenty-two women, representing seven countries from around the world, came together to work on their financial capabilities, resumes, job development skills and communicate their desires to better themselves in their new home country. Over lunch, the women practiced their English skills by making small talk with Goldman Sachs employees. Many mothers were among the group, and one volunteer was able to watch and play with participants’ children so that everyone had an equal chance to focus on their economic empowerment skills without feeling anxious about proper childcare. One luncheon participant from Honduras brought her own daughter to the event, as it was “extremely important that both of them received assistance and knowledge about working in the US.”

Thanks to the Goldman Sachs Community TeamWorks volunteers for hosting this powerful and life-changing event for women so eager to learn.  We hope to host many more such workshops in the future!
