From the International Rescue Committee's (IRC) CEO and President, David Miliband:
"At a time when the humanitarian landscape is defined by urgent need and declining global investment, some believe the humanitarian movement is in retreat. At the IRC, it is just the opposite.
The IRC is answering a clarion call—and embracing a critical opportunity. How do we make every dollar count more, and every intervention matter more? In this new funding era, we are deepening our commitment to what works, prioritizing sustaining our programs for the most vulnerable clients, optimizing our use of resources, and re-envisioning our role in the future.
Across our international work and alongside our emergency responses, we are prioritizing flagship interventions for greatest impact, from immunization to cash assistance to acute malnutrition - where the IRC is already simplifying treatment and cutting costs by up to 30%- meaning thousands, if not millions, more children could be reached with the same resources. And we are investing in a research and innovation agenda to shape the next generation of breakthrough interventions - from remote education to anticipatory action in climate emergencies.
On the US domestic front, we are delivering critical services to help ensure the safety, stability and dignity of our clients- from extending virtual services to legal representation, to helping meet basic needs like housing and food security- as they rebuild their lives.
The IRC wants to do more, with more. That is what our clients deserve. Ahead of this Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting our supporters to help us turn that aspiration into reality."
