The International Rescue Committee expresses its sincere condolences to all Nigerians who lost family members and to the humanitarian organizations who lost indispensable staff in a tragic accident today when an air strike hit a displacement camp in Rann, Nigeria. There are reports of many deaths and serious injuries. The IRC did not have staff in the camp; however we are engaged with the relevant authorities and are ready to help. This tragedy is an awful reminder of the dangers facing civilians and aid workers as we confront this acute humanitarian crisis, with 8.5 million people in need of urgent assistance.
