How to become an IRC volunteer

The IRC in Baltimore has currently suspended in-person volunteer and intern activities while IRC staff provide remote services to clients. However, we are continuing to hold monthly information sessions to provide an overview of IRC's work and how to get involved. Some volunteer positions may also continue remotely.

If you are interested in volunteering, please go through the following steps:

Volunteer process

  1. Attend an information session. Sessions are scheduled every 4-6 weeks. All sessions take place in a live webinar format. Participants will be sent the link to the webinar 24 hours before the session.

  2. RSVP for an upcoming session. Our next session will be on Wednesday, June 3 from 12:30 - 1:30 PM. Future dates will be announced soon.

  3. After the info session, complete a volunteer application. Most opportunities also require a background check. Approved volunteers will be connected with an IRC staff point person to get started. Each opportunity will have specific training or next steps.
