Duration: 5+ months, 2-6 hours/week
SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the supervision of the Senior Career Development Specialist, the Microenterprise Volunteer will support refugee and immigrant clients enrolled in the childcare program. The volunteer will assist with client pre-assessments, file organization, distribution of supplies, light workshop support, and research of community resources. They will also help clients navigate the childcare licensing process and ensure documentation and case notes are kept up to date.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting pre-assessment calls and client intake assessments to gather relevant background and program readiness information;
- Assisting clients with understanding and navigating the childcare licensing process;
- Organizing, unboxing, and distributing childcare-related supplies to clients;
- Cleaning and updating client files, ensuring accurate and current documentation;
- Submitting timely and detailed case notes after each client interaction;
- Researching community resources to support clients in their business development and childcare operations;
- Collaborating with staff to maintain organized program materials and efficient workflow;
- Creating and designing business flyers for the clients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to commit at least 2-6 hours per week for a minimum of 5 months;
- Proficient in English and Dari (required); knowledge of Pashto or Farsi is a plus;
- Comfortable using email, Google Docs/Sheets, and basic data entry systems;
- Detail-oriented and able to manage and organize client files;
- Must be able to maintain client confidentiality and follow program guidelines;
- Comfortable working with refugees and diverse populations;
- Ability to work independently with guidance from the Senior Career Development Specialist;
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the office and be willing to transport clients when necessary;
- Patient and caring attitude toward clients;
- Availability during IRC’s standard business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) is required.
