Location: Hybrid - Sacramento, CA 
Duration: 6-12 months, 10-15 hours/week

SCOPE OF WORK: 

The Ukrainian Support Services (USS) program focuses on providing case management supportive services to Ukrainian nationals who fled to the US due to Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. The USS Intern will assist case management staff with administrative tasks and in providing case management support to individuals fleeing the war in Ukraine as they adjust to their new lives in the US. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support team with education workshops, informational sessions, and tabling events; 
  • Shadow caseworkers to observe client intakes and service planning (as appropriate); 
  • Help clients with resource navigation such as completing applications, setting appointments, or learning about available services; 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach events and client interactions as directed; 
  • Assist staff with sorting and filing documents and case files; 
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • An interest in international and refugee issues; 
  • Punctuality, excellent time management skills, and a flexible schedule; 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information; 
  • Proficiency in one of the following languages is highly desirable but not required: Russian or Ukrainian; 
  • Strong intercultural communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds; 
  • Previous multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred; 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle; 
  • This position is 85% office work, and 15% direct client supportive services (accompany clients to appointments, collect and deliver donations, follow-up with clients on pending applications, etc) as needed; 
  • IRC is committed to working with student schedules. We will accommodate time off necessary for midterms and school holidays and altering weekly schedules to adapt to changing class schedules.
