Volunteer Tutor (Sept - June, minimum 5hrs/week): Tutors with the Youth Education Program provide vital academic support to refugee and immigrant students in grades K–12. Tutors offer individualized homework assistance and English language development support, working with 1–5 students per session, either virtually or in person. Responsibilities include facilitating academic learning across subjects, submitting timely case notes after each session, completing professional development modules, and maintaining a consistent weekly tutoring schedule. Tutors are expected to create a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and linguistically supportive environment while upholding IRC policies and communicating regularly with staff. Additional duties include timesheet submissions, participation in training, and support of program evaluation efforts.
