About the Youth Mentorship Program
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Los Angeles Youth Mentorship (YM) program is in its third year of serving recently arrived youth and young adults across a seven-county service area in and around Los Angeles County.
Since launching in 2024, the program has supported more than 70 young people ages 14–25 in building meaningful connections, accessing community resources, and working toward their education, career, and personal goals.
The Youth Mentorship program provides a range of services and activities, including one-on-one mentoring, online group education and career support, English language support, life skills development, wellness activities, and group outings and events.
About the Internship
The Youth Mentorship Intern will support the day-to-day administration and implementation of the Youth Mentorship program. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in youth programming, nonprofit administration, volunteer engagement, data management, and client intake and onboarding.
The intern will work closely with the Youth Mentorship team to ensure that youth participants are successfully onboarded, program documentation is complete and organized, volunteer mentors have access to appropriate resources, and program data is accurately maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day administration and implementation of the Youth Mentorship program.
- Support the intake and onboarding process for youth mentees, including helping participants complete required forms and documentation.
- Maintain and organize participant records and back-end documentation in accordance with funder requirements and program guidelines.
- Assist with data entry and record maintenance in internal tracking systems and Excel spreadsheets.
- Help ensure participant and program documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Support volunteer mentors by helping them navigate and utilize the program's resource bank and available support materials.
- Assist Youth Mentorship staff with program coordination, administrative tasks, and other operational needs.
- Communicate with staff, volunteers, and youth participants as appropriate to support smooth program operations.
- Optional: Teach or co-facilitate online group classes for youth refugee mentees based on the intern's interests, experience, and availability.
