Part of resettling refugees in the United States is helping to ensure that higher education is an accessible option.  On Saturday, March 4, fourteen GenR: LA members got involved in meeting and mentoring immigrant and refugee students who’ve been resettled in the Los Angeles area.

GenR: LA members gathered at California State University for a campus tour to share their own college experience and give prospective students a close-up look at life as a college student in America.  For some, it was their first time setting foot on a campus, while others had degrees from abroad, and were exploring opportunities to further their education.

After lunch, the groups got to mingle and exchange stories. Overall, the day proved to be inspiring not only for refugees, but also for GenR volunteers.
