The International Rescue Committee in New York has been serving New York City's immigrants, refugees, and migrant newcomers since 1975. Please find our published annual report for Fiscal Year 2025, covering the period October 2024 - September 2025. Whether a refugee, an asylum seeker, or simply a concerned community member, the effects of the sweeping changes to the immigration and public benefit systems are being felt widespread. Our annual report covers the key programmatic shifts and solutions we implemented in response to these challenges. During this period, we served 3,000 newcomers across our core programs, including
- Economic Empowerment: career and workforce development, financial education
- Case management (mental health supports, health benefits navigation, housing and basic needs, intensive supports for asylum seekers and refugees)
- Youth education and enrichment programs
- English and digital literacy classes
- Legal services
If you take anything from this annual report, it is that newcomers in NYC are members of our community. As we look into 2026, the IRC in NY aims to sustain this important work by expanding services, reaching more immigrants and migrants in NYC, and connecting on the ground with our partners to provide meaningful resources and opportunities for newcomers. If you have any questions about the IRC's local work in New York City, please email newyork@rescue.org.
