“Before the conflict in Syria, I was a normal person”
After an airstrike hit Zuhair's shop in Syria, he fractured his spine and was evacuated to Lebanon for treatment. There, he met a phone shop owner through the International Rescue Committee's apprenticeship program. With the help of his new friend and the IRC, Zuhair is rebuilding his life.

International Rescue Committee president, David Miliband, witnesses firsthand the refugee crisis on the Greek island of Lesbos where up to 3,000 refugees are arriving daily. “Lesbos is the eye of the storm for the European refugee crisis,” he said. “And the IRC is the leading aid agency providing the most basic welcome.”

Syrian refugee children share their secret superpowers
At least a half million Syrian refugee children live in Lebanon. Many have no choice but to work on the streets or in the fields to help their families survive. The International Rescue Committee gives them a safe place to play, learn, and just be kids.
