After fleeing life-threatening violence in Colombia and Ecuador, Alfredo and his family resettled in Tallahassee with the support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). With the IRC’s help, Alfredo rebuilt his life and launched El Mana Enterprise, offering home repair and maintenance services across the community. Today, he stands as a symbol of resilience and hope, turning hardship into opportunity while giving back to the city that welcomed him.

Based in Lithonia, Transit CPR provides mobile first aid and CPR training to individuals and groups in the metro-Atlanta area.

Brittney Cooper decided to start Shyne Auto Detail LLC in December 2018. Her passion for auto detailing grew after managing detailing for more than 20 dealerships around the metro Atlanta area. Opportunities for new accounts developed fairly quickly and today, Brittney is proud to be one of the best female auto detailers in Atlanta. 

Stuff We Wanna Say (SWWS) is a clothing store for the outspoken: based in Atlanta’s historic Little Five Points shopping district, the store offers screen-printing and t-shirt design services for occasions big and small across the Southeast.

With support from the International Rescue Committee, Susan Kayongo is able to run her own salon in Nairobi.

It’s the last day of Jori’s first week of kindergarten. Although her family arrived in the U.S. barely two years ago as refugees from Syria, the 5-year-old and her big brother, Majed, 8, are learning English and thriving in their new home in Dallas.
