This is one of five publications where we outline steps for developing a medium-term plan for Bangladesh, to benefit refugees and their host community alike. The other four cover forest and landscape restoration, trade, private sector investment, and labor mobility.

The International Rescue Committee and Relief International carried out a multi-sector assessment to understand the urgent needs of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Only the second needs assessment of the Rohingya refugee crisis to be completed, it reveals the scale of the crisis faced by the estimated half a million people arriving in Bangladesh, fleeing conflict in Rakhine State.

Stretching into its eighth year, the Rohingya Crisis continues to demand global attention. In 2024, the IRC continued to deliver vital humanitarian support - including through vital advocacy efforts - to more than 400,000 people across Cox's Bazar, Khulna and Barisal. Programmes included health, protection, education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness.
