Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct intakes for walk-in asylees and refugees regarding educational and vocational goals
- Refer clients to ESL, GED (TASC), TOEFL and vocational training programs (including TRACK when eligible)
- Assist clients in completing college applications and financial aid (FAFSA)
- Provide assistance to clients in editing college essays, cover letters and writing resumes
- Update databases based on referrals
- Maintain client records databases
- Assist in organizing monthly workshops
Requirements:
- Experience assisting clients with college applications, admissions, and the financial aid process
- Master’s candidate preferred with education, youth development, social work experience, or related field
- Experience working with refugees or immigrants, excellent rapport with young adults of diverse backgrounds
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Understanding of positive youth development principles
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Access
