Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct intakes for walk-in asylees and refugees regarding educational and vocational goals
  • Refer clients to ESL, GED (TASC), TOEFL and vocational training programs (including TRACK when eligible)
  • Assist clients in completing college applications and financial aid (FAFSA)
  • Provide assistance to clients in editing college essays, cover letters and writing resumes
  • Update databases based on referrals
  • Maintain client records databases
  • Assist in organizing monthly workshops

Requirements:

  • Experience assisting clients with college applications, admissions, and the financial aid process
  • Master’s candidate preferred with education, youth development, social work experience, or related field
  • Experience working with refugees or immigrants, excellent rapport with young adults of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Understanding of positive youth development principles
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Access
