Location: Remote, Sacramento area, or able to work in Pacific Standard Time business hours.
Duration: Internships typically consist of 10-20 hours/week over the course of 3-4 months.

SCOPE OF WORK: 

The Development Intern will work in coordination with the Volunteer & Donation Coordinator (VDC) on the Resource & Partnership Development (RPD) team on several projects, including but not limited to the recruitment and organization of volunteers and interns, the management of social media projects, the creation of graphic design material for any of these related tasks, the research and potential outreach to prospective partners and donors, the improvement of data tracking, the procurement of CIK donations, event organization, and any other support for development projects as need may arise.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Research potential partner organizations/donors and record all data in spreadsheet databases, and potentially conduct outreach as directed by the VDC;
  • Create social media content in Canva and post on and manage IRC Sacramento Facebook and Instagram pages;
  • Maintain and organize applications and records for volunteer and intern applicants, candidates, and active hires;
  • Liaising with volunteers/interns periodically to assess satisfaction, convey appreciation, and determine if any additional support is needed;
  • Conducting mid-term or exit interviews and collecting feedback surveys for offboarding volunteers;
  • Participating in volunteer recruitment events to promote new engagement pathways, if applicable;
  • Research and recommend potential volunteer groups to partner with including corporate, faith-based and university organizations;
  • Research and procure in-kind donations from the surrounding community, with a goal of creating repeated partnerships, including with faith-based organizations, affinity groups, school clubs, etc;
  • Work closely with the VDC as a point of contact for donation, volunteer, and other development-related communication, including monitoring a shared inbox;
  • Perform administrative tasks that assist in streamlining processes;
  • Support the VDC with other duties, as needed. 

     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to work within 9am-5pm hours Pacific Standard Time; 
  • Strong writing and communication skills; the job will entail editing and creating material such as newsletters, flyers, and web content; 
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time and meet deadlines; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, or other design software; 
  • Experience with Canva preferred; ability to develop graphic design and social media posts in Canva required; 
  • Experience with social media preferred; ability to manage Facebook and Instagram accounts required;
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product; 
  • Must be comfortable with partner outreach via phone and email; 
  • Passion for supporting refugees, immigrants, and other displaced communities; experience volunteering preferred;
  • Must be highly articulate (in writing and speech), organized, focused, thorough and able to work autonomously.
