Background: The International Rescue Committee responds to some of the world’s most urgent humanitarian crises, helping people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and regain control of their future. The IRC supports vulnerable individuals including refugees, asylees, survivors of trafficking, and survivors of torture as they work to rebuild safety and stability in their lives. For fifty years in Washington State, the IRC Seattle office has helped people regain their footing, pursue their goals, and strengthen the communities they call home.

Scope of internship: The Program Evaluation and Client Feedback Intern will support efforts within the Economic Empowerment Department to better understand client experiences and improve program outcomes. The intern will use an existing survey tool to gather client feedback, conduct outreach to encourage participation, and accurately record survey results. This role is ideal for students interested in program evaluation, client engagement, research methods, or nonprofit program development.

Location: This is a remote position. If interested in working from the IRC office, we can accommodate that. The office is located in SeaTac, WA.

Time Commitment: Approximately five hours per week for six weeks. Hours must be completed during IRC office hours between Monday and Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Outreach and Engagement: Invite Economic Empowerment clients to participate in the program feedback survey. Send surveys using approved communication methods including phone, text, WhatsApp, or email. Provide clear explanations of survey purpose. Maintain confidentiality and use a trauma informed approach with all clients
  • Survey Administration: Use the survey tool provided by the Economic Empowerment team. Provide assistance to clients who need help completing the survey. Track completed surveys and identify follow up needs
  • Data Collection and Recording: Accurately enter client responses into the designated database.  Organize survey results consistently and clearly. Flag significant feedback or concerns to the Economic Empowerment Program Manager.

Communication and Coordination: Share weekly updates with the Economic Empowerment Program Manager. Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth outreach and follow up. Participate in short check ins as needed.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Comfortable making outreach calls or messages
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and organized
  • Interested in data, evaluation, client advocacy, or refugee services
  • Experience working with diverse communities is helpful
  • Fluency in an additional language commonly spoken by clients is a plus
