Position: Family Education Support Volunteer
Reports to: Family Education Coordinator 
Term: February 2018 – ongoing  
Hours: 15-hours/week

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•    Prepare and manage classroom materials for all classes
•    Enroll and evaluate adult students, place students in appropriate classes based on test scores
•    Assist program coordinator with administrative tasks, including managing attendance & assessment databases and other ongoing projects
•    Reach out to clients and CBOs, advertising IRC’s educational services
•    Attend regular meetings with the program coordinator


 REQUIREMENTS: 

•    Comfort working with refugees from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills
•    Experience teaching Adults or English language learners a plus
•    Ability to adapt to changing situations, comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment
•    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
•    Proficient in MS Office suite (especially Excel)
•    Responsible, flexible, and dedicated
•    Reliable: will commit to term and hours listed above
•    Must be able to pass a background check
