Front desk volunteers help to support both IRC clients and staff by serving as the first point of contact for visitors and IRC clients, handling front desk operations and clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
Front desk volunteer role and responsibilities are as follows:
- Greet visitors to the office and connecting them to appropriate staff.
- Refer visitors to the IRC in Boise’s intake process.
- Display sensitivity and respect for cultural and personality differences of refugee clients.
- Schedule appointments with IRC staff when appropriate.
- Assist staff with clerical and administrative duties, including inventory and donations.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe reception area. - Perform clerical tasks: data entry, copying, scanning, and filing.
- Sort and distribute mail, ensuring clients receive items promptly.
- Monitor shared spaces (classroom, interview rooms, kitchen, bathrooms) for cleanliness and functionality.
- Other related duties as assigned.
