ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Intensive Case Management (ICM) volunteer will work closely with ICM caseworker(s) to assist with addressing clients’ needs in their area of vulnerability and address barriers to health and wellness for refugee and displaced clients with severe physical or mental health conditions, the elderly, clients who identify as LGBTQ+, single-headed households, primary caregivers, and victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence enrolled in the ICM program. The primary role of the ICM Volunteer will be to serve as a Spanish/English translator between ICM Caseworker and their Spanish-speaking clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend Training and Meetings: Participate in regular training sessions and team meetings to stay informed about program updates, best practices, and community resources.
- Interpretation and translation from English to Spanish.
- Provide general administrative support to the ICM team.
OPPORTUNITY OUTCOMES:
- Volunteer will learn how to navigate client cases and case management.
- Volunteer will have the opportunity to shadow caseworkers and interact with clients.
- Volunteer will learn how to take case notes and work alongside both caseworkers and their clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
- FLUENT SPANISH speaker REQUIRED
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to present information clearly and compassionately to people from various backgrounds.
- Organizational Skills: Solid organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Cultural Sensitivity: The ability to interact with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in a respectful and professional manner.
