Job Title: Resource Mapping Intern - Winter 2026

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity, and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.
SCOPE OF WORK: The intern will create an exhaustive community resource map that lists all of the services available in the community that IRC clients can take advantage of. This intern will work with all of IRC-LA's programs and departments in creating this map.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- The intern will gain experience in nonprofit community mapping, and will become familiar with different programs and services available in the greater Los Angeles region.
- The intern will learn about all of the programs within IRC-LA and how they work together to provide holistic services to eligible clients.
- The intern will gain experience in conducting research, creating partnerships, conducting outreach, and creating an online mapping tool.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and conduct outreach to Community-Based Organizations and programs in the greater LA region that offer various services to populations served by IRC-LA.
- Build a community map based on this research that can be used by both IRC staff and clients.
- Coordinate with different programs within IRC-LA to understand the populations served and the needs of each program. This position is not client-facing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiency in written and oral English
- Strong research and computer skills
- Preferable experience in creating virtual mapping tools
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Familiar with the mission of IRC and willing to represent it appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work well with a culturally diverse staff.
