Scope of Role:

The Youth Tutor Volunteer support will primarily consist of homework help, literacy training, English language learning, and enrichment activities. Volunteer tutors may also be asked to provide support with community resource navigation where applicable to the student’s schoolwork (example: helping the student to open a library card and access library resources/services). Each tutor will be paired with one student, or in some cases - a pair of siblings, and meet a minimum of once a week for approximately 2 hours. This program is flexible, and it will be up to the tutor and student to plan and designate which day(s) of the week and time(s) they prefer to meet. It will also be up to the tutor and student to plan where they meet, either at the student’s home or a public place such as a library. Tutors will submit a case note regarding the student’s progress within 24 hours following each session.
