Location: NorCal - Hybrid (Pacific Standard Time)
Duration: Internships require a commitment of 4 months, 15 hours/week, or minimum of 240 hours total.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The IRC NorCal Volunteer Operations Intern will play a critical role in assisting with the management of IRC NorCal’s volunteer program and extensive network of volunteers. This position is ideal for someone with interests in community engagement, relationship building, project management and volunteer operations in the nonprofit sector. This role will be responsible for tracking volunteers as they move through our program, so significant attention to detail is essential, as well as a passion for growth and systems management as we continuously develop our network of volunteers and community partners.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing an active database of volunteers and interns across the four IRC offices in Northern California
- Arranging office tours and orientations for new intern cohorts
- Conducting exit interviews and collecting feedback surveys for offboarding volunteers
- Planning volunteer appreciation activities in collaboration with local office staff on a quarterly basis
- Participates in volunteer recruitment events to promote new engagement pathways.
- Research and recommend potential volunteer groups to partner with including corporate, faith-based and university organizations for all NorCal offices.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience volunteering required. Additional experience in community engagement, project management or nonprofit operations a plus.
- Passion for supporting refugees, immigrants, and other displaced communities
- Must be highly articulate (in writing and speech), organized, focused, thorough and able to work autonomously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. A work sample may be requested.
- Ability to travel to IRC Oakland, San Jose, Turlock or Sacramento office for volunteer events
- Comfortable using Microsoft systems and experience with project management tools (ex: Asana) preferred
