How to help our Afghan neighbors in Kansas

The IRC in Kansas helps people fleeing violence and persecution rebuild their lives in Wichita and gain control of their future. We continue to work alongside communities and partners to welcome and support Afghans and refugees from other crisis zones around the world.

Six ways you can help

  1. Give. Make a one-time donation or start your monthly contribution to ensure refugees arriving in Kansas receive vital programming and services. Donate now »
  2. Volunteer. We have opportunities for every ability and time commitment ranging from setting up a family's new home to mentoring a family and helping them learn how to navigate life in Wichita. Contact VolunteerKS [at] rescue.org (subject: Volunteer%20Information) for more information or Sign up today »
  3. Donate household items. Ensure families have the items they need for their first home in Kansas as they begin rebuilding their lives. Items purchased from our Amazon Wishlist are distributed to newly arriving families from Afghanistan and other crisis zones around the world.
  4. Organize a donation drive. Encourage your school, club, business, or faith group to collect supplies such as gift cards or diapers for families who are working to regain control of their future. Contact Kansas [at] rescue.org (subject: Donation%20Drive) for details.
  5. Advocate. Urge President Biden to act swiftly to protect at-risk Afghans. Take action »
  6. Raise awareness. Learn more about the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and share with your friends and family
