“I am so honored to be part of the IRC family of staff and volunteers. Northern California has been my home for the past three decades, and I have seen its ups and downs through the years. As a fundraiser living in one of the wealthiest regions on earth, I am aware of its opportunities, as well as the economic disparities this place can bring. We have challenges ahead, but I am confident that we can climb the hill together, as we ride on the hope and promise of a new Biden-Harris administration.”
Michael Magnaye joined the IRC in Northern California as the new Development Director and will oversee the region’s fund development from a diverse portfolio of public agencies and private donors. Michael has 21 years of experience in philanthropy and fund development in the fields of education, health care, international development and media arts. Prior to joining the IRC, he served as the Development Director for Legal Services for Children, a San Francisco-based organization that provides legal representation and social services for youth in immigration, foster care and education access. He has held senior staff positions at the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, College Summit, International Development Exchange, The Girl Scouts and UNICEF.
Prior to his work in the nonprofit sector, Michael was a documentary filmmaker whose work has been screened at film festivals and broadcast on television stations worldwide. Michael holds a B.A. from the University of the Philippines and an M.A. in Communication from Stanford University. When he is not fundraising, he engages in competitive choral singing, takes modern ballet classes regularly, and is a crusader for Filipino cuisine among non-Filipinos. He is also the proud owner of a large snow globe collection.
