The Career Development (CD) program at IRC in Atlanta supports adult refugee and immigrant clients in their career journeys as they pursue coursework, training programs, certifications, and prerequisites for future career pathways. Many clients are English Language Learners who benefit from additional tutoring to strengthen their academic and workforce development skills. By serving as an academic tutor with the Career Development program, you will help clients build confidence, deepen subject understanding, and develop strategies for long-term academic success.

A successful tutor is patient, adaptable, and empathetic. They listen actively, simplify complex concepts, explain cultural nuances, and create a safe learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Tutors encourage practice, use clear explanations and visual aids, and help students gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed academically.
