Location: 7285 W Franklin Rd. Boise, ID 83709
Commitment: Minimum of one 4-hour shift per week; 9am-1pm or 12pm-4pm. Six month commitment preferred with possibility to extend.

Position Description

Office volunteers are paired with IRC staff to expand the capacity within client services. There are both client facing and administrative volunteering options. Some examples of office support are filing paperwork for immigration legal services, filling out housing applications, data entry, and sorting client mail. If you enjoy working in an office setting with attention to detail, this is a wonderful option for volunteering. Under the supervision and direction of program staff, the administrative support volunteer will complete required administrative tasks according to IRC processes. Shifts occur during regular business hours at the IRC in Boise. Office assistants must display an interest in supporting refugees and immigrants on their pathway to self-sufficiency and integration. Office assistants must be proficient in English and able to manage administrative tasks with attention to detail. reliability and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support program staff in completing compliance tasks, including filing, tracking, and converting documents to digital files.
  • Display sensitivity and respect for cultural and personality differences of refugee clients.
  • Perform clerical tasks: data entry, copying, scanning, and filing.
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Must be age 18+ and pass a background check.
  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for others.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to communicate and work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Willing to learn about IRC history, philosophy, global work, and local efforts.
  • Willing to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies, including strict confidentiality, safety and security practices.
