SCOPE OF ROLE: The Checking Account Volunteer will work with the Economic Empowerment Department by helping clients to open up checking accounts at Wells Fargo. The volunteer will be responsible for picking up the client from their home, driving them to Wells Fargo, assisting with opening a checking account, and then driving the client back home. This role will ensure that clients have the ability to participate in existing economic systems for easy access to funds and to resources/services!

COMMITMENT: 

  • Days and times: Monday-Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm (specific day and time can be flexible)
  • Frequency: biweekly or weekly
  • Hours: 2 hours per shift

LOCATION: Client house (typically Richmond city or Henrico), Wells Fargo 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Help clients open up a checking account at Wells Fargo
  • Follow up with the Economic Empowerment team regarding any issues or unclear questions

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Patience
  • Experience with or comfortable learning to navigate banking systems
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
  • Must adhere to IRC professional standards and volunteer policies including those around boundaries, confidentiality, COVID-19, etc.
