The Resource Development Intern will assist the Community Engagements & Outreach Coordinator in volunteer management and community referral building. The Resource Development Intern will identify and provide community resources to requesting clients and answer questions from the public. The Resource Development Intern will also assist with community awareness and outreach efforts. Travel within Tallahassee may be required depending on project needs.

  • The intern will gain knowledge in community outreach, marketing and fundraising.
  • The intern will develop skills in volunteer management.
  • The intern will develop skills in mapping community assets and resources.
  • The intern will develop skills in team development.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist Community Engagement & Outreach Coordinator in identifying and cataloging available community resource
  • Assist in responding to community inquires on social media and email
  • Assist volunteers complete their background check and assist in the creation of new email account
  • Carry out administrative duties including data entry, filing, and labeling
  • Participate in community events representing the IRC

Internship Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • An interest in international issues
  • Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting
  • Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable access to an insured vehicle.

Requirements:

  • Must pay $51 fee for background check
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must provide proof of COVID vaccination
  • Must attend IRC volunteer orientation training

Minimum Commitment:

  • 5 hours per week
  • A 3-month commitment is desired but is negotiable on a case-by-case basis
