Background: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC teams provide health, infrastructure, learning and economic support to people in 50+ countries worldwide. The IRC also provides support to thousands of refugees resettling in 29 U.S. cities each year through initial housing assistance; case management and referral services; job readiness and placement; community and cultural orientation; health and wellness programs; immigration services; and youth programs.

Scope of Work: 

This volunteer position is placed within the IRC, WA Development Team to help with outreach to local organizations and companies for sponsorships, auction donations, and new partnership opportunities. IRC Washington is hosting two significant events in June for immediate support.  

The We Are Stronger Together Benefit Dinner on June 4th is a fundraiser to gain crucial funding for our local programs.  

World Refugee Day on June 22nd is a large community celebration in collaboration with King County Library Systems and other partners. Both events need additional support in the following areas: 

  • Research for local sponsorships and auction item donors in Western Washington (primarily King, Pierce, or Snohomish counties) 
  • Data input for record-keeping of application status and information 
  • Calling businesses to request sponsorship/auction donations 
  • Support with written emails to potential donors

Location: Remote (hybrid if desiring to do research in person)

Time Commitment: 5 hours per week. Minimum time commitment is one month.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Confidence with phone calls and donor outreach
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn submission or sponsorship applications/requests
  • Online research skills
