DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Literacy Education Tutor volunteer role works to equip refugees with essential digital skills to effectively search and apply for jobs, create, manage and send resumes, communicate with employers, and navigate online employment platforms, supporting successful entry into the workforce.
Note: This is an unpaid role in the Tucson, AZ Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver digital literacy instruction focused on job readiness
- Assist participants with online employer platforms, setting up usernames and passwords, job applications, and online job searches
- Teach best practices for email and basic computer skills
- Adapt instruction to varying skill levels and learning needs
- Provide patient, respectful, and culturally responsive support, working with an interpreter
- Communicate with program staff and follow established procedures
- Maintain participant confidentiality and professionalism

REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic to intermediate digital literacy skills, including email, internet navigation, and online job applications
- Experience assisting with resumes, job searches, employer platforms or employment-related tasks (professional or volunteer)
- Ability to explain digital concepts clearly, patiently, and step-by-step
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Cultural sensitivity and a respectful, learner-centered approach
- Reliability and commitment to scheduled volunteer hours
CLEARANCES:
All offers are contingent on successfully passing background and criminal history checks as required by federal and state law or IRC policy. Additionally, they must acquire an Arizona Department of Economic Security Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card ($75) and to clear an AZDES CBC check.
