Description of Activities:
The program consists of three sessions, each serving about 14 students:
- Session 2: 3rd and 4th graders
- Session 3: 1st and 2nd graders
Activities include targeted instruction in math and ELA skills, such as number recognition (1–100), addition/subtraction with regrouping, phonics, comprehension, and reading fluency. Volunteers will assist staff by distributing materials, working one-on-one with students, and walking students home (approximately an 8-minute walk to their apartment complex).
Requirements:
- Comfortable with children
- Patience and Empathy
- Tutoring experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must pass IRC background check
- Availability on Thursdays 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
