Expand firsthand experience and knowledge of the job development, advocacy, case management, and career navigation skills that can be utilized across several nonprofit sectors. Acquire nonprofit professional experience. Interns are seen and utilized as an extension of IRC staff, and all leave their internship with transferable skills that can help launch a career within the nonprofit sector. Every intern will work on a project developed with staff that will benefit the IRC program, clients, and/or organization while providing an opportunity for the intern to practice skills and gain deeper knowledge relevant to their educational and/or career goals.

Time Commitment:
Interns- 15hrs/week for at least 4 months. Longer volunteer commitments encouraged.
Volunteers- minimum 4hrs/week for at least 4 months. Longer volunteer commitments encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Client advocacy (social services, Social security and other public benefits)
- Assisting clients with resume writing, job applications, and interview prep
- Assisting clients with financial literacy training
- Assisting team in conducting outreach to potential employers
- Collaborate with staff to develop, complete, and present a project (TBD) that benefits the program and program clients and/or staff.
Skills/Qualifications
- Has strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, especially in communicating cross-culturally;
- Is “tech-savvy,” with the ability to quickly learn to use new platforms and online tools;
- Is adaptable, reliable, detail-oriented, and positive;
- Is a problem solver with strong initiative;
- Language proficiency; Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Spanish
