Location: Hybrid - Sacramento, CA
Duration: Internships require a commitment of 4 months, 15 hours/week, or minimum of 240 hours total. Volunteers require 3-6 hours/week, 4 months minimum.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Outreach and Engagement Intern will work with the Financial Empowerment Center and the Student Loan Empowerment Project to develop and execute outreach strategies aimed at increasing awareness of and enrollment in both the FEC and SLEP programs. This includes tabling at events, utilizing marketing tools, researching engagement analytics, and creating content to reach potential clients.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting with the development and implementation of marketing strategies;
- Creating and managing social media content;
- Utilizing various digital marketing tools to reach potential clients;
- Collaborating with community partners to understand their needs and goals;
- Conducting market research to stay informed of industry trends and best practices;
- Engaging with potential clients through email and other forms of digital communication;
- Measuring and analyzing the effectiveness of marketing efforts;
- Finding and tabling at community events;
- Assisting with financial literacy and student loan workshops.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Social Services, Finance, or a related field;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience with social media management, event coordination, and digital marketing tools;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Passion for helping others and making a positive impact in the community;
- Driving is required; must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of active auto insurance, and access to reliable transportation; work-related driving is eligible for reimbursement at the charitable mileage rate;
- Availability during IRC’s standard business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) is required.
