All internships for IRC are posted on Handshake.

Note: All IRC internships are unpaid and in-person at the Glendale office.

Current available internships include these roles:

  • Refugee Social Services Intern
    • RSS supports employability services and other services that address participants’ barriers to employment, such as social adjustment services, interpretation, and translation, daycare for children, referral to internal and external services, applying for benefits, etc. Employability services within RSS are designed to enable refugees to obtain jobs within one year of becoming enrolled in benefits.
  • Survivor Services Intern
    • The Survivor Services Intern on the Safety & Wellness Team provides coordination support to survivors of torture, victims of crime, victims of human trafficking and asylum-seeking families living in Arizona. They will work closely with the program caseworkers and Wellness Team to provide culturally competent, comprehensive services to refugee, foreign national, and immigrant survivors of war, violence, displacement, and trauma. As well as learn how to provide trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based services that promote health and safety, inspire confidence, respects choice, and assists survivors towards self-determination as they become active members of their community.
  • Employment Program Intern
    • The Employment Specialist intern assists newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment by guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and other career advancement services.
  • Supply Chain Intern
    • This semester's internship will focus mainly on implementing principles of Lean production within the context of a nonprofit organization striving to meet the needs of local refugees and asylum seekers. Our paid and volunteer staff fulfill customer orders (usually placed by caseworkers, on clients' behalf) for commodities like shampoo, soap, diapers, and school supplies. Interns will be asked to learn about our order-fulfillment process through a combination of hands-on participation, stakeholder engagement, and analysis. Due to the irregular (and, often, unpredictable) nature of downstream demand, as well as financial and other constraints affecting our organization's operations, establishing a "continuous flow" order-fulfillment model is impractical. However, we aim to reduce waste in our value stream by clearly establishing "pull" processes triggered by Kanban signals wherever possible and by minimizing reliance on inventory
  • Immigration Administrative Assistant Intern
    • The Administrative Assistant Intern will serve as the central point of contact for clients with the IRC Immigration Legal Services team and provide administrative support to the team. This position involves working directly with clients, capturing accurate information, coordinating client appointments, facilitating communication between clients and legal staff, maintaining up to date files, processing mail and payments. This position reports to the Managing Attorney but works closely with all members of the immigration team.
  • Anti-Trafficking & Victim Services Intern
    • The Anti-Trafficking & Victim Services Intern on the Safety & Wellness Team provides intensive case management to victims of crime and victims of human trafficking living in Arizona. They will work closely with the program caseworkers and Anti-Trafficking & Victim Services Team to provide culturally competent, comprehensive services to refugee, foreign national, and immigrant survivors. Additionally, they will learn how to provide trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based services that promote health and safety, inspire confidence, respects choice, and assists survivors towards self-determination as they become active members of their community.
  • Case Coordination Intern
    • Case Coordination works to stabilize clients and connect clients with long term services that support their immediate needs and address barriers to employment, such as social adjustment services, interpretation, and translation, daycare for children, referral to internal and external services, applying for benefits, and other necessary services.
  • Psychosocial Support Intern
