SCOPE OF INTERN WORK:
The Matching Grant (MG) Program is a federally administered program that assists refugees and other eligible populations in achieving early economic self-sufficiency through employment. The intern will assist MG specialists in developing comprehensive service plans, with a focus on employment for each employable adult, and help with enrollment of all eligible case members into ESL classes. Volunteer/Intern will help find employment
opportunities appropriate to clients and assist in accessing these opportunities by guiding them through the application interview, and hiring process. Interns will contribute to the success of the program by supporting various tasks and initiatives in collaboration
with the program team

Time Commitment:
Interns-a minimum of 240 hours to be completed during business hours 9a-5p, M-F.
Volunteers- a minimum of 3 hrs weekly virtual or in person. In person hours to be completed during business hours M-F 9am-5pm.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to MG Clients by guiding them through job searches, aiding in resume preparation, and conducting mock interviews.
- Aid in organizing and uploading necessary MG documents and resources to designated Box folders. • Actively engage in monthly Job Readiness Training (JRT) sessions.
- Collaborate in entering comprehensive case notes into the ETO (Efforts to Outcomes) system.
- Efficiently schedule and help the MG specialist during weekly client office visits, facilitating the collection of essential signatures on mandated records and documents.
- Monitor clients' progress towards self-sufficiency, while ensuring open communication to address their various needs and concerns.

- Desire to understand cross-cultural communication and the diverse ethnic backgrounds of clients.
- Commitment to adhering to IRC's volunteer and workplace policies.
- Dedication to acquiring a comprehensive understanding of all MG rules and regulations.
- Compliant with all MG record-keeping policies.
- Preferably fluent in Farsi, Dari, or Pashto (as many of our business owners speak these languages).
This position reports to the Matching Grant Specialist.
- This is an unpaid internship
- Internship opportunities require completion of a background check at the cost of $40.
- Internships are available for current college students starting in their second year, graduate students, and graduates less than 2 years post-graduation. Course credit is available if the student coordinates with their university and confirms the appropriate paperwork with the Volunteer Coordinator.
