Location: New Roots Farm - West Sacramento, CA
Duration: One day of service, ~5 hours - Friday February 20th

SCOPE OF WORK:

Support the IRC Sacramento New Roots Farm by joining our monthly Service Learning Fridays! These sessions offer hands-on learning, community building, and practical agricultural experience. Volunteers help with seasonal tasks such as weeding, mulching, planting, harvesting, soil preparation, general maintenance, and other farm improvement projects.

You’ll work side-by-side with IRC staff, New Roots farmers, and community gardeners while contributing directly to food access and community resilience in Sacramento. No previous farm experience needed — we’ll teach you everything on-site.

The purpose of our Service Learning Fridays is to bring together volunteers, farmers, and community gardeners to support the ongoing needs of the IRC Sacramento New Roots Farm. These workdays help sustain a vibrant community farm space while offering hands-on learning in sustainable agriculture, food access, and environmental stewardship. Every volunteer hour directly strengthens local food systems and supports refugee and immigrant farmers in Sacramento.
