Co-Sponsorship offers a unique resettlement model for Phoenix’s newly-arriving refugee families, directly supported by the community. Volunteer groups of 6-10 individuals are matched with a refugee family, providing six months of support through fundraising and community engagement. This program fosters a sense of community stewardship and warmly welcomes newcomers to the valley..

 

Your role as a Student Ambassador involves targeted outreach at ASU or GCU, with potential extension to Community Colleges in the valley and other Phoenix-area higher education institutions. Responsibilities include connecting with faculty, students, university staff, administration, on-campus clubs, social groups, and affiliated organizations. The aim is to disseminate program information and coordinate presentations with Phoenix's Community Sponsorship Coordinator, ultimately recruiting new CoSponsorship groups.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal Student Ambassador: Co-Sponsorship Outreach & Recruitment Volunteer is an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated ASU or GCU student or recent alum. This individual should possess resourcefulness and the ability to connect with diverse university stakeholders. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to refugee resettlement efforts, offering personal and professional development in networking, interpersonal skills, public speaking, small group communications, cultural sensitivity, capacity building, sustainable programming, community engagement, marketing, and potentially event planning and scheduling.
