The IRC provides Vocational ESL and Employment Services courses
four days per week to help students build their English language capabilities and search for
employment. 

Location: Virtual and Turlock Office

Time Commitment: 4-8hrs/weekly for at least 4 months. Longer volunteer commitments are encouraged.

Responsibilities: 

• Teach English language skills to a  multicultural and multilevel classroom of new English speakers
• Follow the IRC’s VESL Curriculum for Track 1 and Track 2
• Assess, track and report student attendance and comprehension progress virtually and in person
• Teach cultural and social values of the U.S.
• Assist in job search process with students (both online and in person)
• Assist clients with job-related communications (ie. emails, cover letters, resumes)
• Practice interviewing techniques and skills
• Develop supplement materials and maintain files and records

Skills/Qualifications:

  •  Positive Attitude, Energetic
  • Patience and empathy for students
  • Flexibility to work with a variety of student needs
  •  Experience teaching or training preferred, but not required
