SCOPE OF INTERN WORK:
The Volunteer Coordinator Intern coordinates volunteer resources to assist in the delivery of the organization's programs and services, is responsible for the tracking of in-kind contributions and attaining goals, and for providing guidance, support, resources and tools to staff who supervise interns and volunteers.

Time Commitment:
Interns-a minimum of 15-20 hours to be completed during business hours 9a-5p, M-F.
Volunteers- a minimum of 3 hrs weekly virtual or in person. In person hours to be completed during business hours M-F 9am-5pm.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Volunteer Specialist with developing and implementing goals and objectives for the volunteer program that reflect the mission and the program/service delivery needs of the organization.
- Assist Volunteer Specialist with developing, administering and reviewing policies and procedures that guide the volunteer program.
- Identify volunteer assignments and write volunteer position descriptions.
- Promote the organization and volunteer opportunities in the community.
- Recruit and screen volunteers.
- Provide appropriate orientation and training to volunteers.
- Assist in training staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.
- Assist with planning and implementing formal and informal volunteer recognition activities.
- Develop and monitor a budget for volunteer program activities.
- Assist in the evaluation of volunteer activities.
- Source, track and report in-kind contributions.
- Participate in IRC Communities of Practice and other networking/learning opportunities in the network.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate, graduate student, or less than one year out of school
- Experience successfully managing volunteers; Understanding of refugee resettlement is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal relations skills: the ability to work effectively with partners, donors, colleagues in a cross cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing and providing orientations and trainings.
- Strong writing and communication and public speaking skills including experience working in and developing teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including outlook, word and excel. Experience using donor acknowledgment software preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of ethics and confidentiality related to fundraising.
- Reliable transportation with proof of valid driver’s license, insurance and clean driving record.
This position reports to the Volunteer and Donations Coordinator.
This is an unpaid internship.
Placement is reliant on completion of a background check at the cost of $40.
Work related driving is eligible for reimbursement at the charitable mileage rate.
Internships are available for current college students, graduate students, and graduates less than 2 years post-graduation. Course credit and transcript notation are available if the student submits the appropriate paperwork to the Volunteer Specialist.
