Scope of internship: The WA MASS Project Intern will serve as a key point of contact for clients at the IRC’s Seattle office. This role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in client services, nonprofit operations, and asylum support work. Interns will help maintain a welcoming and organized front desk environment, ensuring smooth daily operations and quality service delivery..
Location: IRC office in SeaTac: 1200 S 192nd. St SeaTac, WA 98148.
Time Commitment: 6 hours/week during IRC office hours. Regular schedule required. Shifts can be scheduled any time during regular business hours (M-F, 9AM – 5PM). Minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Responsibilities:
Client Reception & Support
- Greet clients warmly and offer water/snacks when needed
- Follow Front Desk SOPs to ensure consistent and professional service
- Provide basic information about WA MASSP services
- Direct clients to appropriate staff members
- Maintain confidentiality and a trauma-informed approach in all interactions
Appointment & Calendar Management
- Schedule appointments as directed by Intake Coordinators or Navigators
- Confirm appointments via phone, text, WhatsApp, or email
- Update shared calendars and databases with appointment details.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate clearly with Navigators, Coordinators, and program staff regarding client arrivals and walk-ins.
- Participate in daily check-ins or weekly team huddles.
- Assist with distribution of CIK (Client Information Kits) when needed.
- Assist with hotline support and follow ups.
Ideal Candidate:
- Fluent in Spanish
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
- Interested in refugee services, asylum support, or nonprofit work
