TITLE: Health Access Intern
LOCATION: Missoula or Remote in MT
START DATE: Summer or Fall 2026
COMMITMENT: 5+ hours per week during standard business hours for one semester
 
Overview:

This project will connect virtually and in-person with parents/caregivers with youth ages 5-15 years old in Missoula, Lewis & Clark, and Flathead Counties to support health education and access.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Connect with immigrants and refugee parents/caregivers across Montana
  • Complete healthcare knowledge assessments with clients & complete follow ups to address identified needs
  • Build relationships with school systems, healthcare providers, and other immigrants serving organizations
  • Record all data and information in ETO database

 

Requirements: 

  • Working towards a degree in public health, social work, or a similar degree
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Comfortable making cold calls and forming relationships with other immigrant organizations and healthcare providers
  • Bilingual language skills a plus, but not required (Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Swahili, Spanish) 

  

Position Logistics:

  • Compensation:  This is an unpaid internship - college credit available upon request
  • Hours: Consistent availability preferred, minimum of 5 hours a week
  • Supervisor: Program Manager
  • Complete a 1-hour virtual Volunteer Orientation & a 20–30-minute safety and security training video
  • Complete and pass background check through HireRight
