After learning about the IRC, Eagle Scout Ethan was inspired to help newcomers in his community. He organized a massive food drive with his family, friends, and troop to gather essential food items for the IRC's emergency food pantry. Some people served by the IRC report they are unable to supply enough food for their families, especially at times of transition or crisis, such as moving, job loss, health emergencies, and other major life events. The IRC's in-office emergency food pantry helps relieve stress and provide food essentials to help families get through tough times.

Ethan’s food drive collected over 1,700 pounds of food including 300 pounds of cooking oil, 120 pounds of salt, 320 pounds of sugar, 400 pounds of flour, and 560 pounds of packaged and canned goods. Ethan feels "happy and hopeful that the refugees will be better situated in the future."

Thanks for all your hard work, Ethan, and for setting an example for what it means to be a welcoming community!
